My Love she is a Tree
69My Love she is a Tree - by Cathy Nerujen
(This poem is 2nd ever hub, and my first attempt ever to put a Love poem on Hub Pages. It's a romantic tribute, and dedicated to someone who is very special and dear to me, Cassy. I am happy to announce it is also the subject of a forthcoming book too.)
In the highest mountains ever
Near Olympus stands a tree,
Where once I fell - when wounded - on its bough
when it found me.
In the thinnest of the mountain air,
It basked in all its might,
Indifferent to the elements,
Its shape was quite a sight.
This tree it was so sturdy,
Oh this tree she was not tall,
Yet all the wind and rain that blew could
Never make her fall.
Outshining all the other trees, she drank
In all the sun –
She stood there as a storm shelter,
Protecting anyone.
Bedazzled by her beauty there, I stayed and
Rested soon,
But leaving her I just could not,
And sun gave way to moon.
How strange it was, that past long day,
My burdens made a beach –
They played and swam within a rain,
Then floated out of reach.
How strange it was I stayed with her,
In shelter from the storm.
Her toughened branches – hands became –
They took on friendly form.
And though this tree was smooth to touch,
Her bark was like cement,
She seemed so solid, wise yet young,
As almost Heaven sent.
My troubles they abated here,
Though rain and sleet it blew,
Her branches – Tree-top canopy –
Made sure that nought got through.
I nestled in the bosom of this Life -
Affirming Tree,
Not sure what life had got in store,
For someone here like me.
I came to find a happiness
I’d never found before –
This tree, the leaves they spoke to me –
I warmed and wanted more -
As time goes by, like vine I grow
Around her waist - and size –
My feet have sunk and taken root,
No longer seed am I.
She took me in as broken –
Yet she made me whole again –
Her lips are dew and Eldeweiss –
Her blood is brandywine.
In all my seedling voyages,
I’ve never known a youth –
Her spirit has a power, such
A life – a love – a Truth.
My love she is a woman – oh
My love she is a tree –
She smells of sweetened lilac –
And her sweetness sets me free.
We live and stay and grow together,
Good company are we,
In want, in love and happiness,
We will - forever be.

Wow, I would love for someone to write me a poem like that. I love it. Thank you for sharing.
Wowww you can write a love poem even better than Cabin Girl, and she intends to write a Poem this weekend to mark her return. This poem is just amazing, you have a talent and if I was Cassy I would be beaming with pride at this poem, I am putting this on BadCompanys Profile, the Captain loves a good piece of poetry, just beautiful xox
oh my this is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!! im just in awe of this!!!!
Wow! As in Wow! I cant find the rights words right now coz you stole every element of what is beautiful.. ;p You just love her so much. Such a love so divine. Someone is just so grateful... ;) Say hi to her :)
Blaise awaits your next poem :)
I just had to sneak in here, to admire your best hub ever. Why am I majorly prejudiced in favour of you, Cathy? You wrote a lovely poem about me here. I can think of nothing more beautiful that has ever been written that moved me this much. It's better than a thousand Valentine cards. Or Bouquets of Roses. (Or Lilacs!)
It says so much about you. You toiled over this for so long. If we have to wait as long for your next masterpiece, well - it is worth it, dear! Mwah! ; )
Cathy, Wow!
What an amazingly beautiful and moving poem! I was getting goosebumps while reading it.
I have zero talent when it comes to writing a good poem. So, my poem-appreciation skills are also limited. But, I understood your poem... I felt it... and I'm blown away by it.
Cassy is right... this is way better than a thousand Valentine cards or any flowers!
Oh, dear. The 3rd hub is gonna be much harder to write at this point. Take as much time as you need -- your hubs are worth the wait. And if you ever write mediocre hubs... we will love them (and you) just the same.
Take care my friend!
:) Allie
Tis an Art to being Art ; )

dori
Yer hub is written and dedicated to you x
Yea this is absolutely beautiful and to think it’s just a warm up ;p Don’t be afraid to express something especially if it’s love. Don’t mind the people who won’t understand, they’re just insecure LOL
Wow back at you again! :) Thanks for liking it, that hub kinda caused a lil trouble to me eh.. and more in the future probably LOL but whatever I don’t care ;) XO
Amazing poem you really took the meaning of love to another place and i enjoy reading it. check out my poems and let me know what you think and follow me too thanks
The Cabin Girl bows to a fellow Poet xx
Very warm and loving, this is a masterpiece.
Just beautiful. I had to read it twice.
Bon Jour, Astra...your poetry is so rich, multi-level images with phrases that stir the reader within! Your tree is so nuturing and loving, your lover so yielding and the intertwining of the two, brings inspiration of limbs co-mingling with limbs not only of wood but of flesh, scents in the nostrils, not only of pine and cedar wood, dogwood and cherry, but of the mystical mysterious fragrances of love. Thank you, your talent lives amist the highest of talents in our Hubworld!!!
Brilliant and quite musical with an easy tempo. Nicely done!
So romantic... touching... it made me cry. All I can say is "WOW"... this is one of the best piece of poetry I have ever read. It touched my soul much more than you can imagine. Thanks for sharing! =)
Strength, shelter, nurturing, protection, beauty...all this and more not only in trees but your wonderful intertwining of words and their meaning. Nicely done!
I love it. truely beautiful. x
I've seen few poems with such movement and emotional impact, along with hope for a continuing nourishment and splendid future. Shel Siverstein gave a mesaure of that in his book "The Giving Tree", but the tree of your poem and it's/her world are much more. It also reminds me of Renaissance ballads. Your poem could be set to music.
so lovely and hmmm endearing, ah love, youre a poet, thank you it is sweet, Maita
i am loving it, beautifully written
wonderful and rated this one up my dear Astra, I am always grateful to you my friend, Thank you and your comments to my Jovit baldvivino hub is awesome, made me cry and yes he also made me cry, thank you dear, HUGS and HUGS, Maita
hi astra,
very beautifully written and worded poems, ur words bring out exactly how you want us readers to feel your emotions. Thanks
Lovely, just lovely. I cannot write in rhyme (a topic I am currently working on, ironically) and I so admire those who do it without sounding 'sing-songy' or 'kitschy' in the process.
Astra Nomik, I love trees there is something so perfect and safe about a tree, any tree as if I came from it. I don't know the complete magic of trees but I do know that they are. Thanks for this beautful expression you are an amazingly gifted writer. Peace :)
Really nice poem, nice tree-like structure and compelling writing - thanks !
You and Cassy have a great weekend moi lil friends xox
Snap! Snap! Snap! Excellent poetizing.
Enjoy yer weekend moi fav lil Poet ; ) xoxo
What was it you said about me? A writing wonder? HA! Takes one to know one! A beautiful, stunning poem. Actually one of the best I have read for sometime. Very much appreciate such a tender entrancing poem that you have shared. Your glad, enthused wonder eyed fan.
Good, you should be! As am I of course. By the way... you totally confused me being Cathy in Cassys account. I caught on, no worries :) I figured Cassy was the inspiration, and am very very happy for you two.
As for being published, the end of the summer I am taking off in a pop-up camper and planning to bum around the country for a year or two. Have a family cabin in Az I may take over for months at a time. I plan on writing, a lot.. a books worth in fact. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
~wonder eyed fan
Just checking, how are you, take care, Maita
Wow you have so many comments already, I think mine will just be pointless, but I have to echo chrissie123. Just Beautiful! X
Love the poem, it helps that I have a tree affinity, I live amongst trees, a very wooded area and I love the solitude.
Your use of the tree metaphor made the poem most appealing... The affection one feels in love for another is rooted as the tree in the earth of life... Thanks for sharing...
Check the bottom line of my Avril Lavigne Hub, enjoy xox
The dancing tree is beautiful', as is your description of her.
Beautiful poem, just beautiful
you write poetry like a fish in water - it just swims and swims and swims ......
small world too (irony here) I am also from another galaxy and not of this earth - you see I am a Martain and new to this planet. Would you care in joining me for a little world dominance - or at the very least - we can see what these humans have to offer!
This poem is so beautiful. I am looking forward to more, Astra! XX
You truly have a gift and are very talented. I am glad to see all the support you have as every good writer needs good people backing them and cheering them on. You sound like a dear person and so very genuine - something so rarely found in others today. As one comment said you are the real deal and that you are.
Back in here again ;) You brought me back to my rooftop again and it's so nice reading beautiful writings back again. This poem of yours fascinates me like Greek mythology fascinates me. ;) It's so beautiful. Rated it just now coz that feature wasnt available back then.. ^^,
XX
You've covered all of what it is to be steadily rooted in ones relationship. Well done.
Hi Astra, this is just a lovely, beautiful analogy. I love the whole poem, especially this:..."She took me in as broken – yet she made me whole again – Her lips are dew and Eldeweiss – Her blood is brandywine." Great descriptions, well done.
I thought you might like to read my poem about a woman's life:
Cathy, I'm so glad Cassy mentioned this poem to me and said it was about her. It was unbelievable!! In an incredible good kind of way! I'm so happy that I did not read this before and read your other work first, then Cathy's encounter story about you, then this because it made it even that much better of an experience. Not that it's not totally awesome on it's own but I feel like after reading your work then the encounter part 1, 2, and 3 I was able to get a feel of how you both are people as individuals and this poem totally shows that as well. It was great and I enjoyed reading it so much. You described her how I pictured...her strength, her heart, how she protects, it was so beautiful. Your writing is really incredible. This has to be one of the best poems I have read. Great work!! Jess
Hello Cathy, this is such a lovely poem filled with your love for Cassy, I could relate your quotes to the 'Encounters' mentioned in Cassy's hubs..I love the way you have expressed your love and affection towards her in the form of a Tree, even I has thoughts of referring a Tree in my next hub..you both are such beautiful women and I wish you stay happy and joyful always..sending your way a silent prayer..Cheers..
Such a beautiful poem! I love the photo of the tree... awesome!
Beautiful is not enough to describe this poem. So, so, goog and the picrures. Amazing. Thank you.
..please please please (I know I sound like James Brown - lol lol) but keep on keeping writing - and I will grow with you as old as the tree which stands so proudly in my front yard .... a weeping willow and yes it's still growing ..like your writing!!!!!
Words can't even describe how amazing this poem was Astra! I love love loved it! Thank you SO much for posting, and sharing this one! Wow!!!
