This poem is about waking up in the arms of my lover, written in 2010. It is the waking seconds and minutes of finding oneself awake and in the arms of someone so special, and how time seems to slow down in those sensual moments of togetherness. Captured in words as only poetry can do.

I lie awake - morning - saturday

The clockface - ticks silent -
the day is unsure of itself
You stir beside me - sighing,
I pretend I'm asleep - your hands
finger-sneak along my back -
and snake around my waist,
your sighs - wanting response
then your lips nibble my neck,
Through my hair -
and you inhale me -
As you always do -
I have woken
a hundred times like this
in your arms.

Your breath on my skin excites me -
I am lazy and giddy with childish excitement -
Your hand on my belly, squeezing -
I feel your body pressed against me -
there are no hard edges, only softness of you -
Fingers creeping up my chest -
I moan as I feel goose pimples on my skin -
and you sigh again -

Sensations erupt in me, as I give way
to the coming ecstasy -
I lean back into you now - you murmur,
My eyes meet yours as your eyelids flutter open -
Like Butterfly wings -
Baby-like sleepy innocence - but erotic pleasure -
You half smile - as I kiss you -
Like jam on my lips, moist and soft -
As you glide into me -

We nuzzle each other gently and cuddle -
Curtains shift gently in the morning breeze -
Your perfume - so familiar -
Our bodies greet each other -
And your soul awakens the need deep in me -
It tells me who I am.

I look into your eyes -
I see pure love and beauty -
I feel joy and happiness bloom inside me -
Healing the holes and rips from within me -
We merge and morph into slow kisses,
Tangled legs and hair are we -
The day is tepid -
My tiredness pours out of my body -
As my cup fills with Love -

And I drink you in.
