Found You - a poem by Cathy Nerujen
69Out in this cold blue dusk,
Distant trucks on the road,
I’m trying to track your words,
As awkwardness fills the silence.
The evening breathes, but
It won’t exhale,
The suspense is killing me.
This foreign land, the smell,
The toasted mellow marsh
and salty stale hot air.
We are silent you and I,
No answer to my proposition.
The willows do not bend,
The Bamboo straight and tall,
Dark water clogged with leaves,
The reeds make no admissions.
I am a dying fish needing light.
While birds they never speak.
The sun succumbs to the sea again,
And Gaia takes a drink of her.
As blues and yellows turn to greys –
Your parka wrapped around you,
Your nikes pointed inwards,
A plop from a stone you throw,
A ripple tries a half smile –
My arguments are spent –
My soul begins to close on you,
Then swallow as you take my hand,
Your fingers warm and familiar,
Without seeing your eyes,
I see you stare at me.
Your hand it squeezes mine,
And we turn and fall
Into a hug, and then a
Real tight hug, as the
Air is knocked out of me –
And you whisper sorry and you kiss me.
The dull dark shadows sound with noise,
As frogs and birds begin their call,
And tegument of dark arrives,
We open our lips and drink the night.
And each other.
Written in mid 2009, a summers evening somewhere in India, with a special friend. Written as a love poem and a remembrance of things past.

H'mm, maybe in the start, but it felt that way at the time, until the sun went down, and things changed. Which goes to show, never lose faith or hope, as I almost did. I love you comments here. Hello Snapa: oh, I have a few more poems added here in recent days, feel free to read them, if you like. I think many of us can relate to the poem above, as many of us have perhaps been in that situation, maybe not the exact one but this kind of thing, I mean. Of almost experiencing a rejection or rebuttal. Well, I am always being told I am passionate about lots of things. It can be a strength, but sometime a weakness too. You are most welcome, Snapa.
This is so beautiful and breathtaking. I felt like I was there sitting in twilight..This is so passionate and deep, it could resonate much feelings. To some it may mean reconciliation or whatever. But to me, it was bout the mystery tangling of two souls suddenly unravels, when it did, it's just the start.

Hello blaise, my friend! Oh thank you for this comment. Yes, it was a twilight moment, and yes, it was two tangles souls. You really get my vibe here, blaise. Are you psychic? :) The poem is a bit incomplete in a way, but that's the way I wrote it and I didn't touch a word of it, just republished in the hub as it is.
Ha. Yes I dedicated it to you, because I said I would. :D
And I am glad you like it. Oh, what happened in India was some unpleasant stuff. I brought a special friend and she hated it - and we were kind of "tangled" and frazzled at the edges. Some stuff I can't say here, but at the river bank we kind of reclaimed what we had, if you get my drift. It lasted another month or two, then we split. But on good terms, she'd still a friend too. (Sent you an email recently, it might help make more sense...).

You say you like to read things that make you think, you also love to write things that make others think and I thank you for it. This was so beautifully done. While reading I came to the first picture and it gave me goose bumps. I can't really express why, but I found it so fitting. Hi Lifeallstart1. May I call you Jess? Cassy said you read the three encounters hubs, so basically you know I am that girl! Oh, I wrote poetry a lot back in school. I love the romantic poets, especially Keats and Shelley. Shakespeare's sonnets are divine. But I am forgetting myself in all this reverie. Ha.
H'mm, writing things that make others think, well if they make me think, they will definitely make other people think too. I never stop thinking. My brain never turns off, I'm afraid, unless I am sleeping. I guess I am a dreamer, Jess. And I turn them into poems or writing. Cassy is better at writing other kinds of things than I.
I could never write the encounters, cos I'm basically a chicken. LOL. I am getting back into my writing once again, and I am enjoying it. I have a lot of things I want to write about. Hi Jess...thanks for this. I am smiling like the proverbial cheshire cat here...I have never seen a busier day on hubs in my life. Maybe it's also because today is a half day, and I have lots of free time. :) Anyway, thank you for saying we are such good writers. Well, some more productive than others certainly, but me being an asset. Okay, call me in a year to see did I get to make it to "Asset Class" Hubber. Ha. Wow, what a day it has been. I am actually smiling here now.

Hi kimberly, I am glad you find the poetry captivating. Whew! I don't have many hubs, so I treasure every comment. Ha. You see me... I understand this, and thank you for this too. Well, I guess I am easy to figure out. I am that kind of person, I guess. Actually, you know what is better than having a gift? Having someone who believes in us having that gift. And believes in us for all the good wholesome reasons.
Your Hubs really impress me, they can be intense, but they move me too. You have had such a life, kimberly. You are that tall Lighthouse that warns us to avoid those perilous rocks nearby, and many lives are saved because of you.
Yes, Blaise is a very decent and wonderful person. But so are many people here in Hub Pages. I am smiling at these words here. :) Well, we are who we are. We are all our own truths.

Hi Freya: it was a memorable holiday in Asia that was not working out the way it was planned. The romance was something I was hoping would blossom, but it withered on the vine. I blame other things for that, but we sat by a marshy river place and watched what might have been the sun going down on our relationship, and then...that happened in the poem. Simple really. Nearly lost the person, then it "boomeranged". Funny how love does that on a girl.

It's the one thing in life that, until 2009 I was crap at, then I got good, or lucky or both. LOL. I am glad you are finding my poetry and enjoying it.

Wow, this is wonderful! I really liked this! (I commented yesterday but there was a problem with comment boxes apparently, my votes are still here!) Yes, I read the copy book version you had handwritten, but seeing it here is better. I love the ending here, the resolution, the way it suddenly comes upon us.
